After countless late nights, meticulous testing, and unsung heroics from Remme’s dev team, we’re pleased to announce that Auth is here. Remme’s digital identity solution for single sign-on is now available on the App Store.
Auth promises to be a game-changer for passwordless authentication and cyber security, but don’t take our word for it: try it for yourself and form your own conclusions. In this article, we’ll run through what you can expect from Auth and how to utilize its features and functionality.
What is Auth?
Auth is a secure and user-friendly solution for authenticating to platforms and devices. It enables self-sovereign identity by placing data in the control of its owner – i.e. the user – rather than the site they’re accessing. The result? Greater privacy, security, and convenience. Not only does Auth do away with passwords and all their inherent weaknesses, but it replaces it with a solution that’s easy to use and yet hardened against hackers.
Auth is designed for enterprises and their customers and partners to enjoy secure system access. This could be a website, mobile app, or IoT device. Auth provides multi-factor authentication and can be integrated into existing IAM platforms. In a nutshell, here’s how it works:
- Remme Protocol provides a secure blockchain later for storing decentralized IDs
- These are represented as digital keys, with the public key hashed and stored on-chain
- Every login request is cryptographically signed by the user’s device each time they authenticate to a site
Auth is a major leap forward in leveraging self-sovereign identity. Let’s run through the features that are available in the beta version of Auth.
Easy onboarding
Onboarding is the greatest impediment to adoption of decentralized IAM. Passwords may be a poor authentication method, but they’re easy to create. We’ve devoted a lot of attention to onboarding with Auth in a bid to make the process as seamless as possible.
Using Auth entails a simple two-step process: first, you generate a unique ID using Auth’s built-in MFA feature, and then validate your email using the verification code you receive. And that’s it: you’re now ready to start using Auth.
Muti-profile management
Auth is designed to provide authentication for multiple sites, all administered via a single account. In the Profile Management section of Auth, you can create as many profiles as you like for each of the sites and apps you visit. Credentials are stored discreetly, ensuring that each site can only access data pertaining to the specific profile you created.
With Auth, you can categorize your various profiles, assigning them names that correspond to your activity e.g. Work, Shopping, Trading. Under Profile Management, you can also revoke access to connected apps and OAuth-enabled websites.

Connecting with Auth
Any time you sign in to an app or OAuth-enabled website using Auth, you’ll be presented with a range of verification options. You can scan a QR code on your device to authenticate or use push notifications to log in.
Tracking your activity
Under My Activity, Auth lets you monitor your recent logins and view all live sessions. That way you can ensure that no one else has access to your accounts. What’s more, you can log out remotely using Auth without needing to visit the website or app.

Managing your settings
The Settings tab is where you can access advanced functions including the ability to initiate account recovery if you’ve lost your device. Auth enables account restoration using Auth guards (friends who have Auth accounts) or a seed phrase. That way, should the worst happen and you lose the device on which Auth is installed, you’ll still be able to get back into your account – but attackers won’t.
We’re just getting started
This is only a taster of the capabilities that Auth offers. In the weeks ahead, we’ll be adding new features and refinements as Auth prepares to move out of beta. We’ve got lots more in store, but we can’t make Auth awesome without your input: the feedback we receive during our beta testing phase will be critical.
For early adopters, interested in seeing how Auth compares to other IAM solutions, this is the perfect time to get involved. Head over to App Store and create your Auth account to get a feel for the future of digital identity.
If you’d like to request a pilot project for your business, we’d love to hear from you. Particularly so if you’re focused on enhancing your customers’ and employees’ UX and security. Hit us a message to see how Auth can bring security and simplicity to your IAM ecosystem. Let’s do this.
